This resort was so needed at this point of our trip. Anchor Down is a 10/10 and a must to visit. They have everything for everyone.
We stayed at site 73 and you can see our view in my pictures below. From what I hear people book their sites here up to a year in advance so it’s hard to get sites, I was lucky I guess. I wanted to stay here and it was sold out. I was upset so I didn’t book anywhere else for this stop. About 4 days before our arrival date I went to book somewhere else and checked Anchor Down one more time and they had a site available. It wasn’t a great site but I’d rather stay here for the resort amenities then somewhere else so I grabbed it. The night before checkin I checked the website again and they had a site open up with a view and more privacy so I switched.
We pulled in and were blown away by the view. It’s gorgeous. The campground is on a mountain side and overlooks Douglas Lake with gorgeous views of The Great Smoky Mountains. All the sites have full hookups, Concrete Pads, Paved Streets, Bath House with 6 private spacious bathrooms with shower, a clean and air conditioned laundry room, and so much more (also extremely clean and the employees were all so friendly). Another sold out campground! They have “beach” access to the lake with a sandy area, sand volleyball, inflatable water fun, water fun rentals, etc. They pick up your trash curbside and drive around in golf carts delivering tubs of wood for $5. They really have it all!!!
Besides the resort activities there is so much to do around here. They are about 20-27 miles away from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The following are other ways to stay entertained: Dollywood amusement park and water park, Hillbilly golf, Donut Friar (they have the best doughnuts), Sky lift to sky bridge, Hatfield & McCoys dinner show, The Pirate Show, The Comedy barn, Dixie stampede, Cades Cove Loop (to drive through part of The Smokey Mountains), Titanic museum. Due to the corona virus we just stayed put and enjoyed the resort!
We would definitely come back here and suggest you check it out yourself.

Our view from our site. It was raining out there so the Smokey’s are hiding. I didn’t take a better one 🥺
This would be fun!
