Before we changed our route do you remember we were going to Hot Springs, AR then to Oklahoma? Well thank goodness we made that last minute decision because we dodged a bullet. The campground in Oklahoma we were going to be at was hit hard by those storms and they had 80-90 mile an hour winds at the campground and lost electricity for 3-4 days.
Not only we dodged a bullet but we found a gem stone on our new path. We saw our friends that happened to be vacationing in Branson, Missouri and they live in Kansas. For us to get to Colorado we had to drive through Kansas. Ryan & Liz invited us to stay at their home for a night in Overland Park, KS and then we all drove to Salina, KS and stayed at her mom & stepdads home. They were so kind and generous and let us stay in their beautiful pool house. They made us so comfortable, the kids had a great time playing together and her mom fed us well. They even have a small farm and the kids got to feed goats, horses and a cow. We are so sad to leave. On our way out we took Ole Betsey and she got a bath. Now I can see out of the windshield. 😊
Today we continue our journey and off to Colorado we go. It’s a far trip, 500 miles, so we are going to try to find a place to stop for the night. I hear Colorado has some sketchy roads you have to drive through the mountains so we want to drive only during the day (and we love the scenery). We are headed to Estes Park, Colorado to see the Rocky Mountains. We have some super fun things planned while we are there and I can’t wait. Eli’s birthday is Friday and we have the biggest surprise for him, I can’t wait!!!
