Locked INSIDE of Our RV

So last night I told Guy I was going to take a shower and come sit with him outside for our late night relaxing tea time 😂 (getting so old)

After my shower, 10:00pm, I went to go outside and the door wouldn‘t open. I opened the window and told Guy to open the door from the outside but it wouldn’t open. We messed with the locks and handle for a while but I could tell nothing was there. Something was broken because it wasn’t grabbing whatever it usually does. I told him we need to call the RV repair man because even if we get it open the lock is broken and needs fixed (also I know we will probably break something else trying to do this). He refused because it was too late and he said they would charge us too much money.

So, we both watched utube videos and he handed me some screwdrivers since I had to take the lock off from the inside. I took the screws out and had a hard time getting the handle to come off but after a while I got it. Now I can see the broken piece and there‘s only one hole which has a broken spring inside. After messing with it for a while Guy had to climb in the emergency window in the back 😂

After he messed with it for a while and watched more videos at midnight he says “call a locksmith” 🤦🏻‍♀️Seriously!!!

Luckily In the middle of nowhere land and middle of the night I picked the locksmith that was 10 minutes away from us 🤗 He tried to get it from the outside but nope....he had to climb in through the emergency window (which is NOT easy).

He took the trim piece off around the door and could access the lock from there so he got it open. The latch was very deep and we would have never gotten it out. We had to sleep with a big hole in the door and used bungee cords to keep it closed at night. The next morning he drove into town, 45 minutes away, and went to the 3 dealers and nobody had the lock. We had to check out today and there’s no way we can drive like this so he got a different lock that would fit. He got to us and had it installed all before checkout time at noon. So happy....for now! 😬
