You have to pay a one time $20 just to get into “the islands”. This place is huge and when we pulled in it was dark. It was hard to know where to go and none of their signs had lighting.
When we woke up the next morning we realized we probably had one of the nicest camp sites (in my opinion). We were on site 25 which was a waterfront site and we had beautiful sunsets every evening. There was a small “beach” area right below our site (which we didn’t use because it was cold) but would be very convenient during the summer. Very clean and level concrete slab, nice fire pit, clean picnic table and the sites are spacious. They do pack people in and while you can see your neighbors each site does have lots of space between.
I have to say, I was prepared to party hard and have a blast at this place but they had false advertising and it was definitely not the place to party. First of all their website says the water park is open through “LATE FALL”. We were there the last week of September, which is early fall, and the water park was closed. No water park, no inflatable water course, no big screen movie nights, they didn’t even have any beach bars open. The Landshark Bar & Grill was open and that was all they had going on. Their “Friday Social” was pretty lame. Not very many people and they offered free hamburgers/hotdogs/chips at this small pavilion and there was a guy playing guitar and singing. They do have a golf cart driving around and you can stop them for drinks. Pretty expensive but a cool concept for summertime ($5 beer and $14 for a mixed drink ). 🍻 🍹
The place is ran by a bunch of kids. The only employee there that was friendly was the general manager (I didn’t get his name). He was full of energy and super nice. Every single employee besides him acted like a typical college student. The internet connection was awful and kept going in and out. They are doing construction and one day the whole island’s internet was shut down so they could only take cash for everything. I had rented a golf cart thinking we would be hanging out everywhere but once I realized everything was closed and nothing was happening they let me return it, so that was nice of them.
They have 1 laundry room for all the sites at the RV resort and inside they only have 2 washers and 2 dryers 🙄seriously!!! It was clean though.
They have a grocery store, restaurants and gas stations, etc. just 5-10 minutes from camp sites so that was very convenient. You can get to any store in 15-20 minutes.
So in conclusion, this was a beautiful place to camp. If I had come with that mind set I would have been very happy but I thought I was going to play at Margaritaville….and that did not happen. The weather is beautiful and exactly what I was waiting for. Living in Florida it’s nice to get those cooler evenings, especially while camping. 🏕 🌙 🔥
Disclosure: Since there are many different types of campers I will tell you my husband and son say I am a “bougie” camper. My mom is opposite from me and wants to be surrounded by nature and the more trees the better. I don’t like camping on dirt or sand, I prefer level concrete slabs. I don’t love being surrounded by trees where they are all on top of you because this mean more bugs and spiders 😬. So when I give a review just know we may like different things when camping.
My parents went camping with us just to our first stop and stayed 4 campsites down.

I love how these trips make them get closer and hangout more 🥰
Well I can see Guy is enjoying himself! He is probably thinking ahead and going "ummmm, who needs a stinking house. This is home to me!"
