IT‘S SUMMERTIME ☀️ and we went camping for Memorial Day 🇱🇷 and the week after the kids got out of school. We brought along 2 extra kids on this trip (family friends) and it was their first ever camping trip ever. My parents also joined us and camped next to us.
The campground was okay. It’s not a fun campground for the kids because they don’t have any activities for them and no other recreational options other than the swimming pool. The campground was clean and well maintained. The bathroom/showers were kept clean (except for the night some kids thought it would be funny to go and trash the bathrooms 🙄). I didn’t check out the laundry room here because I didn’t need it. We just went from our home on a short 5 day trip and it’s only 1 1/2 hours from our house. Your normal flies during the day and mosquitoes at night 🦟 . The “patio” sites were nothing to be excited about. You have a small paved patio, graveled driveway, and a portable fire pit. Some sites had shading from trees and some didn’t have any shading. They don’t have an on-site store but right around the corner there is a Dollar General store that was very convenient (you can walk to it). It is located right off the highway and every store, restaurant and gas station you may need is within 2 miles or less.
The best thing about this campsite for me was it’s location. It is less than 5 miles from the St. Augustine Beach Pier that we went to. They have bathrooms, showers, splash pad, clean beach and restaurants right there.
It was also less than 5 miles from St. George Street. This place was SOOOO cool. They have shops, restaurants, bars, the oldest schoolhouse, etc. Very fun place to go and walk around (would also be very fun for adults to go bar hoping here 😊). Castillo de San Marcos (the oldest masonry fort in the U.S.) was in this area and so is Flagler College. I’m personally not a history fan BUT this is an amazing place to visit for a great history lesson and sightseeing.
On our way out we stopped at Buc-ee’s. It‘s a HUGE gas station/convenience store. You should definitely check it out. There are a ton of gas pumps, hot food inside (the brisket sandwich was so good 🤤), and they have the funnest shopping section.
I for whatever reason didn’t take a bunch of pictures of the campsite either….sorry!
